A joint effort from ptoone, Thexyz and the house of cards have ensured that all free members of the house of cards can send a free eCard quickly, easily and without advertisements. As valentines day is fast approaching we have also developed an exclusive line of cards that can be sent free of charge as eCards. The software is designed to be integrated with email, twitter, facebook and other popular social networks.

All you have to do to send an eCard is:

  • Sign up for a fast and free membership
  • When signed in, visit the ‘bronze’ level page to send a eCard

NB. To send any card from the full house of cards collection you will have to purchase silver or gold level memberships.

What is RSS?

RSS, or Really Simple Syndication, provides a convenient, easy, and quick way to stay abreast of news, events and developments on your favorite sites, without having to visit the site directly. It is a free content delivery service that alerts you whenever content is updated on sites that you have selected.

What Do I Need?

A reader is required to subscribe to feeds. Just like you use a player to watch video or listen to music, a feed reader (or aggregator) lets you subscribe to any feed you want and then automatically checks to see when they’ve been updated. From the feed reader you can view new headlines and pick and choose those articles you want to read.

There are many types of feed readers. Many of them are free and can run on your computer or through your browser. You can choose a reader that allows you to view the feeds locally from your computer, like one of the following:

Computer based: Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer 7, Safari (MAC), FeedDemon, NewsGator for Microsoft Outlook, Attensa for Outlook, NetNewsWire (MAC)

You can also read them through your browser or add them to your homepage with one of these services:

Web based: My Yahoo!, Google Personalized Homepage, My MSN, My AOL, Bloglines, NewsGator Online

How do I subscribe to RSS Feeds?

Once you have an RSS reader, you can get any feed you want, simply by following an RSS link on a web page and clicking the subscribe button. Once you have done this, your aggregator will automatically pull the feeds to your computer.

How do I view RSS Feeds?

The RSS reader, whether it’s a stand-alone application or Web-based, typically displays headlines supplied by the RSS feed you have subscribed to. Clicking the headline displays a summary of the new content as well as a link to the Web page that contains the new content.

Welcome to the house of cards greeting cards.

Hello, I am ptoone (Perry Toone) the designer/illustrator of this site and am writing this first blog today with a big smile on my face, as I have finally learnt how to build a custom ccs/php/xhtml script with MySQL database to run our own content management system. The result is this website, and basically what that means for you (the visitor) is you will be able to:

1. Leave comments regarding our content, mostly greeting cards.
2. Browse our greetings cards on our super cool website and buy using our secure SSL shopping cart.
3. Regular updates of the site so there will always we something new.
4. Subscribe to our RSS feed and stay up to date with all announcements and new cards.

I hope you like the site and find it easy to navigate. Your questions and comments are welcomed and we look forward to reading what you have to say.
